Google Allowed Energy Generate Own Electricity



WASHINGTON - The company's largest internet provider in the United States, Google is allowed to build their own power plants to be used to provide electricity supply for their data centers.

Energy Regulatory Commission in the U.S. (FERC) has given approval to Google to have their own electricity supply. But in tersbeut agreement, FERC cautioned not to abuse the Google deal.

In other words, quoted by Yahoo News, Monday (2/22/2010), Google does not have the authority to sell these supplies to other companies. Responding to that, Google believes that if the supply of available energy will be used only for the benefit of Google alone, even as energy cadagan.

Google is one of the many companies that have obtained permits independent electricity consumption. This is done as energy efficiency measures, while reducing their expenses for electricity each month.

Until now, FERC has given permission to more than 1,500 companies, including Alcoa, Safeway grocery stores, and Walmart.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, IT and telecommunications facilities that Google uses an average need of approximately 120 billion kilowatts of electricity each year, or spends approximately 3 percent of the total electricity American owned. (srn)
